Frequently Asked Questions
Prefix registrations were introduced in 1983 displaying the year identifier at the beginning of a registration. This system was introduced after the suffix number system was exhausted , and is basically a reverse of the suffix system. In this system the year identifying letter comes first followed by 1, 2 or 3 numbers followed by 3 letters. The letters Q, Z, U and I were never used in this system.
